I am a Libertarian

I am a libertarian. I believe in individual liberty free of government intervention.

I believe in the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights. I served 20 years of my life in the military and swore an oath to protect and defend the Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic. Just because I am out does not mean I will not uphold that oath.

I believe in freedom of speech and the press. I think most universities professors and the mainstream media preach and try to persuade with a liberal bias to their students and viewers instead of just presenting the facts. I think students and news watchers should be able to decide on their own what to think about the information presented.

I believe I have the right to keep and bear arms. I believe I have the right to use those arms against anyone who threatens my family or me with violence.

I believe in freedom of religion. I believe God created this world, this universe. I believe that altruism is the way to heaven. I don’t push my beliefs on others and don’t think anyone should push their beliefs on me. I believe it is okay to drink alcoholic beverages.

I don’t believe anyone should abort babies, but I think the woman should have the right to choose. Partial birth abortions are an abomination. There is a special level of hell for those people.

I believe in evolution. I don’t believe the Earth is 6000 years old. There is too much fossil evidence showing it is millions of years old.

I believe in the capitalist system. I don’t think they should give my tax money to other countries as “aid” or to poor people in this country. I don’t think people from other countries should be allowed to enter our country unless it is through official channels. Once they are here they should learn English.

I think eminent domain should be extremely limited. The government should not be able to take private land and give it to a private company to develop to increase the tax base.

I think everyone should grow a garden and raise chickens. I think everyone should be able to hunt and trap to put food on the table.

I think home owners associations have too much power. Anyone should be able to fly a flag and have solar panels, wind turbine generators and clotheslines.

I think the NAIS (National Animal Identification System) is a bad idea. It is portrayed purpose is to prevent the spread of disease. It was started and supported by large producers. Large producers can purchase one number for a group of animals. Small farms have to purchase multiple numbers and an expensive system. It hamstrings them with a 24 hour travel notice. How will a travel notice stop the spread of disease?

I agree with the comment below about GMO’s (Genetically Modified Organisms). Leviathan companies like Monsanto own the rights to seeds they will not let you plant unless you buy from them. That also means you cannot let them go to seed and use that seed to replant. They are genetically modified so that the second generation may not germinate any way. You must by the seed from them every time you plant or face a law suit. I support organic seed growers by buying organic seeds.

I think everyone including the governement should mind their own business.

  1. You might add GMO “genetically modified organisms)” as something to be concerned about. Using seeds created and owned by Monsanto (that you cannot harvest and replant) is not a good idea also. The dangers to liberty come both from government and from large and multi-national corporations.
