A friend of mine told me that the next war will not be fought over oil it will be fought over water. I found an awesome article in the news. It is about the Ogallala aquifer. I did not know that the Ogallala aquifer was considered to be the largest body of fresh water in the world. According to the article it can never be replaced and framers in the plains are watering their circle fields with it. It is a shame because most of the corn grown there goes to foreign lands that are beyond their limits of growth. They can’t grow enough food to feed their people so they buy it from us. Once the price of oil goes through the roof like it is threatening to do they will not be able to afford as much and their people will starve. There will be food riots. People will die.

In the non powered future everyone needs a piece of land with a well that can be pumped without electric or gas power. “American” windmill pumps can pump water from about 100 ft. so the water table needs to be high. I think in the valleys between mountains would be the best spot to have some land. Water collects there naturally and some have springs and creeks. I have been looking on the web sites for land in Arkansas. Looking for a cheap one with a with a fixer upper shack or cabin.

You Tube videos

I happened across a great set of you Tube videos by a guy called southernprepper1. Just go to youtube and do a search on his name. I highly recommend his videos. His focus is group dynamics. Really interesting. Also brings up some good moral points about what to do about certain problems. Like what to do if you catch some one spying on you for another group. Do you shoot them or turn them loose? That is a hard question. On the British TV show Survivors they had a situation that where they thought on of their group killed another. They voted as a group what to do so the decision was not all on one person. They executed the person they believed killed the girl. They found out later it was someone else.

Feeling like a depressed doomie today. I looked up the George Carlin quote about our tiny blue speck.

Stay at home Influenza kit

I downloaded and saved this .pdf file called the Stay at home kit for Influenza. I found it while I was catching up on my daily reading of SurvivalBlog.com. It looks like it has a lot of good information.
Last year I read The Great Influenza by John M. Barry. In it he describes the Influenza pandemic of 1918. Cites lost thousands of people because they did not shut down public gatherings soon enough. They did not want to “panic” the public. If something like this starts to break out stay home. Wear rubber gloves and masks. Avoid people.
